Alpenfire Cider

Dabinett Yarlington Mill 6.2 % (750 ml)

Medal: Bronze

Category: High-Tannin Dry

This bronze medal winning mid-season dual varietal combines two of the most beautiful apples from Alpenfire’s estate orchard in Port Townsend, WA. By late September the Dabinett, with its deep red, grows like every apple is hand polished. Dabinett juice is strongly tannic, slightly bitter and mellows with age. Yarlington Mill, on the other hand, has rosy cheeks, pale green skin and floral candy like aroma that leads one to expect a delicate cider. At first that is what you taste, but with time and fermentation it’s aggressive nature comes out. These two apples compliment each other beautifully, earning a medal in the High Tannin Dry Category at NW Cider Cup. Enjoy now or aged, paired with roasted veggies or dessert.

Empyrical Orchard and Cidery

Abstract 12.1% (750 ml)

NW Cider Cup 2023 Best New Cidery of the Year

Empyrical caught our attention (and captured our heart) when they took home two bronze medals and tied for Best New Cidery of the year at the 2023 NW Cider Cup. We knew you’d want a taste. Empyrical Abstract is a single-varietal study of Harrison’s Cider Apple. Cryo-concentrated and barrel-aged for an imperial ABV of 12.1%, robust tannins, and an intense focus on the famed apple’s characteristic flavors: smoke, marmalade, pepper, spice, a bourbon cherry and the last sip of an old fashioned. This limited edition version of Abstract was finished off-dry in the champagne method, especially for the members of the NW Cider Club.

Bauman’s Cider

Mountain Rose Single Varietal 7.2% (750 ml)

Medal: Silver

Category: Red-Fleshed Sweet

Just off-dry, this Mountain Rose took home silver the past two years at NW Cider Cup. Bauman’s award winning cider is bursting with acid, apple skin, raspberry, light oak and caramel notes. A PNW favorite in the Red-Fleshed category, Mountain Rose apples have a delicate red flesh that glows the perfect blush when fermented. As these apples are rich with acid and aromatics, Bauman’s artfully fermented them on their own, with a white wine yeast until puckeringly dry, then aged the cider in white wine barrels for a month. This blush cider isn’t shy on mouth feel and is versatile enough to pair with a wide range of flavors at your holiday table.

Bauman’s Cider

McIntosh Pet Nat 7.2% (750 ml)

Medal: Bronze

Category: Single Varietal

This cider, an annual favorite, earned the bronze in the Single Varietal category at NW Cider Cup. Bauman’s McIntosh Cider starts with apples grown in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. Crafted with minimal intervention, the essential apple flavor shines though. Just a little residual sweetness is left to showcase the rich apple flavor and aroma. The Pet Nat style means this cider is finished in the bottle for exuberant naturally sparkling bubbles that you’ll want at your winter celebrations.
